How We’re Saving for the Portable Homes Project
At One Million Kufiya project, I’ve carefully designed a sustainable savings model to ensure the portable homes project becomes a reality. Running a project like this demand’s significant costs, efforts, human resources and time, as it combines the responsibilities of a business with the commitment to create social impact.
The pricing of our kufiyas has been reviewed extensively and fits well within the price range of ethically made kufiyas from Palestine and Jordan available online. However, when factoring in the costs of shipping and the savings allocated for the portable homes project, it’s clear that this price could be much lower.
Additionally, achieving higher sales requires substantial investment in marketing, operational scaling, and hiring experts in various fields. Running a socially responsible business isn’t cheap, but it’s worth it. The investment not only ensures the sustainability and growth of the One Million Kufiya Project but also delivers results that extend far beyond the products themselves. The value of the impact we can achieve together is truly invaluable.

- Growth and Expenses:
As the project grows, its expenses naturally increase, which means our monthly sales targets must adjust accordingly. This ensures we cover all running costs and have the capacity to scale effectively. - Savings Begin After Initial Costs:
Savings for the portable homes project begin only after meeting the initial monthly target needed to cover operational expenses and maintain a margin for sustainability and development. This is tracked through the first indicator: monthly sales targets. - Step-by-Step Savings Growth:
⦁ The initial monthly target for operational expenses is 150 Kufiyas.
⦁ Once the initial monthly target is achieved, the second indicator will be triggered, for every kufiya sold, 14% of the profit will be saved for the portable homes project until we reach 150 items sold per month.
⦁ At 151sold items, savings will become 20% for the previous 150 sales and the coming ones until we reach 300 sales.
⦁ At 301 items sold, savings percentage will change and increase to 35% of the profit, including savings from earlier 300 sales.
⦁ If we achieve 500+ kufiyas sold per month, savings will grow to 60% of the total net profit from all sales counted on the second indicator, enabling us to make a significant impact together.

Indicators of Impact
We’ve set up clear indicators to track progress and maintain transparency. These counters are updated in real time to reflect how close we are to our goals:
⦁ Total Sales Indicator: Tracks the overall number of kufiyas sold monthly
⦁ Monthly Target Indicator: Measures progress toward the monthly sales needed to cover running costs and prepare for future expenses. Set to 150 kufiyas.
⦁ Portable Homes Savings Indicator: Tracks contributions going directly to the portable homes project and the amount saved. (follows the rules of growth and contribution policy) as following:

⦁ Portable Homes Savings Indicator: Tracks contributions going directly to the portable homes project and the amount saved. (follows the rules of growth and contribution policy) as following:

These indicators should work automatically with sales, but must have manual override for when bulk sales happen, or when sales from outside of the website happen. Also should recognise cancelled and refunded sales.
The choice of direction will depend on feasibility, long-term impact, and the sustainability of the One Million Kufiya Project. If sales are promising and can support the establishment of a production workshop, we aim to run this workshop in collaboration with partner organizations. Conversely, if sales remain limited, the saved funds will be donated to an organization already working to provide shelters in Gaza.
